2014 Color of the year

It's that time of year again — 2014 is just around the corner, and Pantone has recently released the new color of the year. Say goodbye to Emerald and hello to Radiant Orchid! We'll show you how to spruce up your home with this new color trend.

2014 Color of the year

Get it!

Sofa: Small cafe sofa (Sofas & Stuff, price varies based on fabric); Throw: DKNY urban tide throw (Donna Karan Home, $59); Pendant light: Magenta black plaid pattern pendant (Zazzle, $90); Rug: Safavieh paradise purple viscose rug (, $162); Pillow: Steve Madden Skylar oblong decorative pillow (Bed Bath & Beyond, $40)

What is Radiant Orchid, exactly? Well, it's a close tie between magenta and fuchsia. A purple that edges to the near cusp of pink. And that's exactly why we love it!

When deciding how to add this color into your home decor, the first thing that might come to mind is your daughter's room. And while this color would be the perfect fit for any young lass, don't hesitate to add some radiance in other rooms, too. Go big by splurging on a large furniture piece, like an upholstered sofa, or by adding a decorative rug. Or, ease into this trend by adding smaller accents, like pillows, light fixtures and throws. Either way, we believe this year's cheery new color will bring a smile to your face each time you see it in your home.
