Cute accents for
bed and living

Want a quick and easy way to spruce up your family room this fall without spending an entire month's pay? Forget a new couch or a fancy new painting and just add a few of these fun autumn-themed throw pillows!

Adding throw pillows is one of the easiest and most budget-friendly ways to give some fresh pizzazz to your family's favorite room. Not only can you find throw pillows in a slew of fun colors, patterns and sizes, but you can also make your own using this easy DIY guide. Whatever your mood, these fall pillows will turn any room from drab to fab.

Patterned

Patterned pillows for fall

Fall is all about rich, darker colors like burgundy, sage, olive, mustard and brown — so pick pillows with patterns in those colors. We love the damask throw pillow (Overstock, $32) and the Angelique pillow (Pier 1, $25), especially if you have a lighter-beige or taupe couch. The creams, browns and reds add a splash of color to neutral furniture. If you're going for a more modern vibe, we love the Suzani Maison throw pillow (World Market, $30) and the Twitter Toss pillow (Bed Bath and Beyond, $25). When accessorizing, don't worry so much about matching. The look now is mismatched, so throw very different patterns on the same couch for a trendy style!

Textured

Nothing adds some spice to a boring living room set like some fun, textured throw pillows. For a more feminine vibe, we love the rosette round (Anthropologie, $78) and the oblong chevron toss pillow (Target, $17). These will perfectly accent any colored sofa or this black-and-white chaise lounge (Lamps Plus, $700). If you have more neutral or plain colored furniture, add a few burlap pillows (Etsy, $28) or the fun imperial pillow cover with tassels (Serena and Lily, $64). Too many textures can be overwhelming, though, so stick to one kind per piece of furniture.

Exotic colors

Pillows in exotic colors for fall

Turkish colors and prints; exotic colors; and deep reds, oranges and greens are very in for fall, so a few of these will instantly give your room a trendy makeover. In addition to being exotic, brass is also very trendy, and it goes well with the Middle Eastern vibe. We love the Chooty & Co Romance pillow (Wayfair, $53) paired with the Morocco embroidered decorative pillow (Kohl's, $60). The mismatch of the colors and trends will add some glamour and class to your sofa or bed. We also love the Turkish prints and deep colors of the Banaras pillows (Overstock, $55), which look great with a red, tan or even brown sofa. For a touch of green, add some of the Monroe peacock pillows (Crate & Barrel, $40) to your couch or love seat.
