5 Upcoming wall decor trends

Adding flair to your bare walls

There’s something fun about a blank canvas and even a blank wall, for a while at least. After a couple of months though — and definitely after a year or two — the plain space loses its charm. If you are nodding your head in agreement, these five upcoming wall decor trends — all meant to impress — are your ticket from bare to flair.
1

Family feature

While cell phones, Facebook and Instagram store the family’s memories and have become the new photo album, traditional framing and featuring of your precious moments has also been reinvented.

Photos printed on canvas

Canvas Pop prints virtually any photo on canvas, with pricing that starts at just $30 for a rolled 8 x 10-inch canvas print. Currently, 12 x 12-inch Instagram prints are their most popular item, but their fun and new collage and mosaic options are getting a lot of attention as well.

digital image printed on glass

Fracture has developed a process for uniquely printing digital images on glass.
This option is a slick and contemporary way to display your most precious photos
from small (4.8 x 6.4-inch) to extra large (21.6 x 28.8-inch). For the best results,
Fracture recommends using files larger than 1 MB — their price ranges from $15 to $125.

Pixuru app

Pixuru offers a seamless process for creating quality artwork straight from their app,
available for Android and iOS phones. The app allows you to upload any photo from
your phone and place your order, choosing from canvas, wood, metal and framed options.

2

Wallpaper wonderland

Due to its messy pastes, wallpaper does not always have the best reputation.
If you throw out wallpaper altogether though, you are missing out.

Concrete wall

Concrete Wall is a new photographic, vinyl wall covering line that only recently debuted
in North America. Every image used in the collection is a high-resolution rendering from
photographer Tom Haga (with no repeats), giving the walls a very realistic finish. The covering
can be applied just like wallpaper and customized to fit the specific needs of the space.
The price is $18 per square foot and worth the small splurge. (Resource Furniture)

DIY dreams

The trick to a good DIY project is to make it look like you spent lots of money.
Painting can be the best way to accomplish this polished, yet manageable look.

Blue and white wall

Decorator Annie Sloan is considered the guru of decorative painting techniques
and has created her own unique recipe for Chalk Paint. Recently, Melanie Royals,
creative genius and founder of Royal Design Studio, has married two products — Chalk Paint
and her Khanjali Ikat stencil — to create a gorgeous and metallic mural for any wall. DIY-ers can use her "how-to" photos and instructions to create the same exotic look in their home.

Original organizers

Sometimes function and design are needed at the same time.

L shaped cubbie

Andre Aekins is the designer and owner of Cubbie Company. Still in the prototype phase,
The Cubbie is a functional storage solution to organize and display a variety of accessories,
including ties, perfumes, jewelry and much more. The Cubbie is anticipated to retail between
$7 and $9 and is expected to be available for purchase in fall 2013.

Stunning stone

It is often said that beauty is in the detail.

There is no better way to add detail to your walls than with the Motivo
collection by Caesarstone. Their surfaces are perfect to use for backsplashes in kitchens and bathrooms, but can be installed anywhere in your home. The cost is $80 to $100 per square
foot installed, making this a splurge in your wall decor budget, although well worth every penny spent.
The detailed patterns such as lace and alligator skin are sure to leave every visitor stunned —
patterns are available for viewing at a Caesarstone showroom in your area.

Note

No matter your budget or personal style, it’s time to transform those bare walls and add some flair to your home!
