Best Jeans For Beautiful Moms

I raided my mother's closet the other day because my nephew spilled some juice on me. At that point, I realized: My mother wears cooler jeans than me. In her closet, I found pairs of Buffalo, 7 for All Mankind and Diesel denim. Wow! "Mom jeans" aren't what we once thought (and made fun of). And it's not just my mom. I surveyed my mommy friends about their jeans... As it turns out, they're all styling! Here's how to choose the best jeans for moms -- and for your body.

Bootcut

"The majority of my jeans are bootcut. Now that I think of it, most them are from New York and Company," says Claudine Principe. And the best part for moms is that bootcut jeans are flattering to most shapes and sizes. These premium bootcut jeans in Stiletto Wash ($69.95 at NYandCompany.com) are a shape-sculpting pair that's slim at the hip and thigh with a gradual flare below the knee. This style hugs curves in the right places and makes legs look longer and slimmer.

My Style
  1. Bootcut jeans are very curve-friendly and will make your legs look thinner!
  2. Flare-style jeans are super versatile – they are great at elongating legs and look awesome with pumps, slim boots, even platforms.
  3. Go designer: They are sometimes a splurge, but a great investment in your denim future.
  4. Cuffed jeans aren't the sloppy denim of our youth – now they are quite in vogue, and look great paired with our fave strappy heels!

Fit and flare

"I'm loving Express' Eva Jeans," says Gina LaGuardia Schrecker. At $49.50, these Eva Fit & Flare Jeans are a steal. Even better, they're buy-one-get-one-at-50-percent-off. No wonder moms love 'em. Flare-style denim elongates legs and looks awesome with pumps, slim boots, even platforms. They're the versatile jeans that every mom should have if she doesn't already.

Designer duds

"I like to wear my jeans low-waisted. I own several pairs I can use depending on the occasion and my mood," says Maria Jacobo Gatchalian. "I love 7 for All Mankind, True Religion and Paige jeans. I wear both skinny and bootleg in dark wash and semi-dark." Although designer duds are a bit of a splurge, you can find some on sale. For instance, these 7 for All Mankind Straight Leg in Havasu wash are $102 at RevolveClothing.com ($82 off). Go to stores like Marshall's and Loehman's for great designer finds at discount rates.

Cuffed boyfriend

As in jeans, that is. That's what some moms are wearing and loving right now. Not only are they comfy (ideal for running errands with the kids), they can be dressed up or down with the right accessories and shoes. Fashion maven Maria also likes to cuff hers during the summer to give them that very casual-beachy look that's perfect with flip-flops or a hot pair of sandals. We especially like these True Religion Drew Boyfriend Jeans in Rambler Dark Wash ($119.90 at Nordstrom.com). They're on sale for 50 percent off right now, so hurry before they run out!

EW! Bootcut jeans are indeed mom jeans. And I believe that people who wear them think that they are great, but for the rest of the world, they are sloppy looking, and make people look fat. No thanks to jeans that fall off my ass to the knee, although I do own a few low rise jeans. But all mine are straight, skinny, or legging jeans. They stretch every which way, so you can do ballet in them if you feel like it, and they look tidy and flattering. Love them with converse, love them with boots, love them with flats! No thanks to wearing mom jeans for me. No. Its not a compliment. But to each their own.
