First airing in 1972, The Waltons showcased the trials and tribulations of seven children and their parents living in the Blue Ridge Mountains during the Great Depression. Though depression is a recurring theme, the show also covers topics such as growing up, dating, employment and aging. The opening credits of this show demonstrate how beloved dad John Walton, Sr. is by the entire family.
