Festive Drinks
You may not necessarily think of cocktails when you think of Thanksgiving, but Turkey Day can be an opportune time to get creative with your beverage choices - you have a house full of hungry guests in the mood to celebrate, drink and feast. Here are a few signature holiday cocktails to add to the merriment of your Thanksgiving Day festivities.
Thanksgiving cocktailsPumpkin PietiniMakes 1 servingIngredients: 1 ounce Malibu rum 1 ounce Kahlua 6 ounces milk 1/3 teaspoon ground cinnamon, plus more for garnish 1/2 to 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie filling Finely crushed graham crackers Directions: Combine all ingredients in a blender with a few ice cubes. Blend until fully combined. Pour into a chilled martini glass with a graham cracker crust rim. Top with more cinnamon. Gingersnap on the RocksMakes 1 servingIngredients: 1 maraschino cherry 1 orange slice 1 teaspoon orange marmalade 2 dashes of ginger syrup (recipe below) 1-1/2 ounces Crown Royal Powdered sugar Ground cinnamon Directions: Muddle the cherry, orange slice, marmalade and ginger syrup together in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and Crown Royal into shaker and shake well. Strain mixture into a glass rimmed with a mixture of powdered sugar and cinnamon. Ginger SyrupMakes 1 cupAdd a tablespoon or so of this fiery syrup to club soda for a nonalcoholic drink with zip. Ingredients: 1 cup sugar 1 three-inch piece of peeled, minced fresh ginger 2 cups water Directions: Combine all ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for about 1 hour. Let cool and strain before using. Hot Apple PieMakes 1 servingIngredients: 2 ounces brandy Hot apple cider Whipped cream Cinnamon stick Directions: Add brandy to a tall glass and fill with apple cider. Top with whipped cream and garnish with a cinnamon stick. |
