Build your own "broquet" for Father's Day

I'm a food blogger (since 2009!), travel writer, DIY crafter, social media rockstar and two-time cookbook author with a passion for adventure, cooking & healthy recipes.

A fun basket filled with gifts for Dad

Can't decide what to get Dad for Father's Day this Sunday? Instead of one gift, surprise him with a basket of man-inspired goodies, also known as a broquet!

We've filled our bro-tastic tin with things we know every man loves, like beer, grilling utensils, a manly cookbook and homemade sauces and marinades. But the basket is totally customizable, so customize it with what your favorite man, dad or bro loves!

Supplies

For the basket:

  • Medium size basket
  • Floral foam
  • Burlap
  • Grilling accessories and cutting board
  • Baseballs (or other sports toys)
  • Pint glass
  • Small beer tin
  • Beer
  • Dad's favorite candies
  • Small wooden block
  • "Dad" stickers
  • Bakers twine
  • Drill

For the sauce:

  • Sterilized Mason jars
  • Plain sticker labels
  • Sharpie
  • Homemade sauce recipe (we love these boozy ones!)

Instructions:

1

Label the sauce jars

2

Arrange items in basket

Place the floral foam in the bottom of the basket and cover it with burlap.

Arrange the items in the basket. We put the cutting board in the back and started layering the larger items around it, like the beer tin and beers, and the pint glass and barbecue sauce.

We also added a small baggie of fun root beer candies, but you can swap in your dad's favorites.

3

Drill two holes in wooden block

To make the fun wooden sign for the front of the basket, carefully drill two holes in the wooden plaque, one on each side.

4

Add stickers and attach to basket

Carefully place the "Dad" stickers in the middle of the plaque, between the two holes.

To attach to the basket, thread twine through the holes and tightly tie the plaque to the basket.
