The author of Anticancer recommends eating blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and cherries in every meal of the day. They're packed with antioxidants and other substances such as ellagic acid, glucaric acid, anthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins that combat cancer. Pomegranate arils offer an extra antioxidant and anti-inflammatory boost, too. Start your day with berries on whole-grain cereal, have a fruit salad for lunch, and finish dinner off with berries for dessert. (And don’t forget about the most recent superfruit in the berry family: Antioxidant-rich Goji berries, available in food products, in drinks and dried.)
