There's a lot of talk about what celebrities eat to look so good, but what about the rest of us? What do "normal" women eat on a typical day to keep their health and energy levels up? We asked a bunch of nutritionists, trainers, dieticians and food coaches to dish up their days on a plate. The results? A ton of inspiration to change your eating habits — for life!

Real women dish on their diets

I eat a gluten-free, dairy-free diet that's nutrient-rich and high in protein and raw foods. I try to avoid processed foods and cane sugar, and keep grains to a minimum. I eat this way because I have food intolerances and my body feels much healthier when I stick to a wholefood diet. I never count calories or let myself go hungry. I have a passion for making raw desserts (they're guilt-free and good for you!). My biggest vice is wine some evenings (and occasional chocolate!). If you're just starting out on a healthy diet, my advice is to be creative: Try new combinations, flavours and textures until you find something you like.

Pre-breakfast

2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water.

Breakfast

A superfood-packed smoothie with 1 large banana, 1/2 cup of blueberries, a handful of spinach, almond milk, acai powder and 2 teaspoons of coconut oil.

Snack

A handful of raw nuts, seeds and dried fruit and an espresso.

Lunch

Homemade vegetable frittata with "kaleslaw" salad (coleslaw with kale, cabbage and green apple) and some fermented vegies on the side.

Snack

Fresh vegie juice and a small bowl of cherries.

Dinner

Grass-fed steak with mashed sweet potato and a salad with flaxseed oil and lemon dressing, sprinkled with pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

Dessert

A piece of dairy-free, raw cheesecake and a glass of wine.
