Favorite Halloween candy by state

We know that our accents, clothing styles and even driving habits vary from state-to-state, but did you know our candy eating preferences hugely differ depending on where we live as well?

According to Influenster's poll of 40,000 people, the most popular candy in each state varies widely. Some of the state picks are right on par for what you'd expect, but others are a little wacky (really, West Virginia?).

See if you agree with your state's top candy choice.

Candy corn

Candy corn

Candy corn is waxy, overly sweet and just boring... but not according to OR, WY, TN, TX and SC.

#4/18:

Oreos

#4/18:

Oreos

Apparently in West Virginia, there's a statewide conspiracy that Oreos are a candy. They're not.

Florida's candy choice? Mediocre chocolate with rice in it. Disney World's home state can do better.

#6/18:

Toblerone

Toblerone

Arizona's pick is totally unexpected. Who gives out Toblerone on Halloween? Duty-free shops? Santa?

#7/18:

Sweet Tarts

Sweet Tarts

New York thinks it's such a cosmopolitan state, but Sweet Tarts are pretty much as basic as candy gets.

Pixy Stix

OK Georgia, Pixy Stix are basically just ground-up Sweet Tarts in a straw wrapper. You. Deserve. Better.

#9/18:

Hershey's Kisses

#9/18:

Hershey's Kisses

Kisses are clearly a Valentine's candy, but apparently Mississippi and Missouri think that love is scary enough for Halloween.

#10/18:

Laffy Taffy

Laffy Taffy

Wisconsin probs should have chosen a dairy-based candy, not this denture-destroying taffy.

#11/18:

Tootsie Rolls

New Hampshire's fave candy is pretty much as exciting as the state itself (I can say that — I'm a New Englander).

Almond Joy

Almond Joy

People in Maryland and Vermont are still eating Almond Joy? We're as surprised as you are.

#13/18:

Airheads

Airheads

We thought this way-too-chewy candy went out with the '90s, but boy, were we wrong. Alabama and Washington disagree.

#14/18:

Swedish Fish

Swedish Fish

You might be a resident of Louisiana or Pennsylvania if you're still eating Swedish Fish like they're going out of style.

Sour Patch Kids

Sour Patch Kids

The folks in New Jersey and North Dakota still think that burning a hole in your tongue makes for a fun Halloween.

#16/18:

Jolly Ranchers

Jolly Ranchers

We've long suspected that these oddly flavored choking hazards are part of a dental conspiracy, but who's going to tell the good people of Nevada?

Reese's... are great. Reese's was the right choice, Rhode Island and Connecticut. You win because I say so.
