Always looking for fun ways to make food even more interesting to my son, I have come to love shaped pastas. Shells, corkscrews, and penne never cease to inspire imagination-rich stories from a three-year old. However, pasta in the shape of airplanes, trains, cars, and motorcycles is the ultimate dinner treat for a boy who stops everything to observe modes of transportation as they pass. World Market's Travel Pasta is nothing short of amazing to my son, and it gave him just one more excuse to get in the kitchen to help me cook. Here is his recipe for kid-friendly pasta.

Kid-friendly Pasta with Planes, Trains, and Autos

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups World Market Travel Pasta (any shaped pasta will do)

  • 2 zucchini, ends trimmed, thinly sliced

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • 4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced

  • Finely grated zest and juice from 1 small lemon

  • 1 (16-ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed, drained

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper


Directions:

  1. Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions. Drain in a colander.

  2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add zucchini and cook, stirring often, until zucchini is tender and turning golden.

  3. Add garlic, lemon zest, and juice and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.

  4. In the large pot used to cook the pasta, combine pasta, zucchini, and kidney beans.

  5. Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately.
