Broiled Grapefruit

Serves 6

Ingredients:

  • 3 medium-sized grapefruit, cut in half

  • 1 tablespoon agave

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons rum

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg


Directions:

  1. Preheat broiler and set a broiler rack in the upper half of the oven.

  2. Place grapefruit cut-side up on a roasting pan.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients until brown sugar dissolves.

  4. Drizzle the brown sugar mixture over the top of each grapefruit half.

  5. Broil until brown sugar mixture starts to caramelize and grapefruit is warm. Serve immediately.
