Vegan food items at 7-Eleven stores in New York

If you're a vegan in the New York area, 7-Eleven just rolled out a few on-the-go vegan foods. The vegan menu adds to 7-Eleven's accidentally vegan snack foods available country-wide.

Convenience stores may not be revered for their health food offerings, but eight 7-Eleven stores in the New York area are offering vegan food items, according to the New York Daily News. For those New York vegans who need on-the-go vegan meals, 7-Eleven is test-driving artichoke spinach noodles, vegetable lo mein, and two types of dumplings. At $6 a meal, vegans can satisfy their hunger for food and convenience without meat, egg, or dairy.

"There was demand in the New York and Philadelphia area, not only from our customers but from our our employees and franchisees, some of whom are vegetarians," Margaret Chabris, director of corporate communications told the News.

For vegans with a vegan snack yen, 7-Eleven offers a few "accidentally vegan" treats; accidentally vegan foods are processed foods that are unintentionally free of animal products.

According to an August 2010 article in The Huffington Post, 7-Eleven's top five vegan snacks include:

  1. 7-Select's Fudge Mint Cookies

  2. 7-Select's Peanut Butter Fudge Cookies

  3. 7-Select's Iced Apple Danish

  4. 7-Select's Tortilla Chips

  5. 7-Select's Cherry Snack Pie

Best yet, these convenient vegan snacks are $1.79 or less and can be found at 7-Eleven's around the country.
