No need to dress up for this one — just put on some sweats and light the fire. Unwind by spending the evening indoors, playing board games with your sweetie. Some games are more fun with others, so invite over a few other couples and create a friendly competition out of your favorite childhood games.

While you are getting warmed up, this hearty tomato soup will be filling your house with a delicious aroma. Serve it with crusty French bread, a fresh salad and a glass of Merlot.

Creamy tomato basil soup

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 (28 ounce) can of whole stewed tomatoes
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can of diced tomatoes with garlic and basil
  • 2 fresh tomatoes, sliced into quarters
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 teaspoons chopped garlic
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • Sea salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:

  1. Add the ingredients to a slow cooker. Cook on high for three to four hours. Using an immersion blender, blend the ingredients until you have a smooth, creamy consistency. Cook for another hour.
  2. Serve topped with fresh grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
