Making snack time fun while on the go

Is your kid’s lunchbox getting boring? Snacks are an important part of every child’s day. Not only do they curb hunger between meals, but also can serve as a quick remedy to crankiness. When you pack snacks day after day, it’s hard to keep things interesting. Try some of these ideas to help keep snack time fun, even on the go.

Fruit and cheese kabbob

1Get popping

Pack low-fat or air popped popcorn in a sandwich bag and sprinkle on some parmesan cheese. This snack will cure those salty cravings without going overboard on calories.

2Mini peanut butter and jelly

Smear peanut butter and jelly between two whole grain crackers for a familiar taste with a snack time twist.

3Cheese kabobs

Spear cheese cubes with pretzel sticks for a way to make a simple snack fun for the little ones. If you want to add more variety, throw in some grapes speared with pretzels, as well.

4Peanut butter dip

Cut up fresh fruit or vegetables and pack them with a small container of peanut butter. Try sliced apples or bite-sized carrots. If your child has a peanut allergy, send plain yogurt instead.

5Stackable snacks

Let your kids create their own snacks. Pack a variety of whole grain crackers, cheeses and meats. Let him have fun stacking different combinations to find his favorite.
