Though we assume the foods we buy at the supermarket and order at restaurants are safe to eat, is warning hungry consumers to beware of certain foods – some seemingly benign – that could send you to the hospital or worse! Here are 10 of the deadliest everyday foods.


Avoid the leaves, stems, and sprouts from potatoes and keep these tubers in the dark. The potato plant contains glycoalkaloids, which can lead to cramping, diarrhea, confusion, headaches, or even coma and death. Also, if your potatoes have a greenish tinge, trash them – potatoes are not that expensive, so go buy yourself another bag.
