Pilly-style cheesesteak recipes

Classic Philly Cheesesteak

Makes 4 sandwiches

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 white onion, thinly sliced
1 large green or red pepper, thinly sliced
1 pound rib eye or choice beef, thinly sliced
4 (6-inch) soft Italian rolls, split
6 ounces Cheesewhiz or 8 slices of cheese

Directions:
1. Heat oil in a skillet and saute the onions and peppers until softened. Add beef to skillet and heat until cooked through, separating beef and gently shredding it.

2. When meat is finished cooking, top rolls with beef, onions, and peppers then place Cheesewhiz or cheese on top.

Vegetable Cheesesteak

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons cooking oil
6 ounces mushrooms, sliced
1 small zucchini, thinly sliced
6 ounces broccoli florets, sliced
1 white onion, thinly sliced
1 large green or red pepper, seeded, thinly sliced
1 pound rib eye or choice beef, thinly sliced
4 (6-inch) soft Italian rolls, split
6 cheddar cheese slices

Directions:
1. Heat oil in a skillet and saute mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, onions and peppers until softened. Add beef to skillet and heat until cooked through, separating beef and gently shredding it.

2. When meat is finished cooking, top rolls with beef, onions, and peppers then place cheese slices on top to melt.

Open Face Cheesesteak

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 onion, sliced
1 red or green pepper, seeded, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon oregano
1 pound deli-sliced roast beef
1 cup shredded American cheese
1-1/3 cups milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper to taste
4 slices white or wheat bread

Directions:
1. Heat oil in a skillet and saute onions and peppers until softened. Season with oregano.

2. Add roast beef to the skillet and saute until just heated through.

3. Meanwhile, combine cheese with milk and flour in a small pot. Heat and stir until melted. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

4. Place bread slices flat on plates and top with beef, peppers and onions. Drizzle cheese sauce over beef and serve.
