Gourmet hot dog recipes
Hawaii 5-0 Dog
Makes 8 servings
Ingredients:
1 pound pork hot dogs
8 whole wheat hot dog buns
1/4 cup sweet BBQ sauce
1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, diced small
4 tablespoons shredded coconut
Directions:
1. Preheat grill to medium-high. Grill hot dogs until fully cooked through.
2. Place buns on grill, split-side down and grill for 1 to 2 minutes to toast and warm through.
3. Spread an even amount of BBQ sauce on buns and top with hot dogs. Spoon pineapple overtop of dogs and sprinkle with coconut.
Spicy Mexican Dog
Makes 8 servings
Ingredients:
1 pound beef hot dogs
8 small corn tortillas
1/4 cup sour cream
2 to 4 jalapeno peppers, minced
1 small onion, diced
1/2 cup pinto beans
1/4 cup guacamole
Directions:
1. Preheat grill to medium high. Slice hot dogs down the center, but not all the way through to the bottom. Grill hot dogs slit-side down until fully cooked through.
2. Place tortillas on grill for a few seconds per side to warm through but not make crispy.
3. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine sour cream with peppers and onions.
4. Lay tortillas flat and spread sour cream mixture on bottom. Top with hot dog then spoon pinto beans down the center of the dog and top with guacamole.
Apple & Brie Dog
Makes 8 servings
Ingredients:
1 pound chicken hot dogs
8 (6-inch) French bread rolls, split
1/4 cup honey mustard
2 green apples, diced
6 ounces brie, diced
Directions:
1. Preheat grill to medium-high. Grill dogs until fully cooked through.
2. Place rolls, split-side down on grill and grill until heated through.
3. Spread honey mustard on rolls then top with hot dogs. Sprinkle with diced apple and top with brie.
4. Place rolls back on grill and shut lid. Cook for 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.
