If you want a little twist on the typical chocolate chip cookie, this recipe is for you. With graham cracker crumbs standing in for some of the flour, the flavor is amped up just enough to be both different and delicious

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1-1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (12-ounce package) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, blend butter and sugars with an electric mixer until light and creamy. Add egg, milk, and vanilla extract, blending well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking soda and salt. Add these dry ingredients and blend well into the creamed mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips. Drop heaped tablespoons of dough about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes until set, but do not overbake. Cool for 1-2 minutes before moving to a wire rack. When completely cool, store in tightly-covered container. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Variation: Chocolate Butterscotch Graham Cookies -- Instead of 2 cups of chocolate chips, use 1 cup chocolate chips and one cup butterscotch chips. These taste almost like 7-layer-cookies.
