You've heard about acai berries — that superfood from Brazil we're all supposed to be eating. But how, exactly? Easy! Puréed, in a smoothie bowl — and you don't even have to purée the berries yourself.

Sambazon makes these easy little snack packs of acai berry purée. Now you can eat them straight out of the pack as a snack (try them frozen… it's like the world's best freezer pop), but you can also combine them with other ingredients to create healthy and delicious acai bowls in minutes.

Full disclosure? Sambazon did not pay for an endorsement; I just really like anything that makes my life that much easier. The company did, however, provide the recipes and, more important, the photos so I didn't have to get out my photo equipment every day at breakfast and pray I was awake enough to take a decent pic.

Adding avocado may seem odd for this breakfasty bowl, but remember, avocado is technically a fruit too. Besides, it's also the reigning (and only) king of monounsaturated fat-containing fruits, meaning it can deliver on the recipe's promise to aid in clean living by lowering bad cholesterol levels.

Serves 1

Total time: 10 – 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 Sambazon Unsweetened Superfruit packs
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 3/4 cup coconut water
  • Bee pollen
  • Toasted buckwheat
  • Raw cashews
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Shredded coconut

Directions:

  1. Run the Superfruit packs under running water to thaw, then cut the packs in half, and squeeze the contents into a blender.
  2. Add the avocado, banana and frozen berries. Add in the coconut water a bit at a time, using the blender's plunger feature to get it started and drizzling in more as needed to create a smooth blend.
  3. Pour it into a bowl, and top with bee pollen, buckwheat, raw cashews, strawberries and coconut as desired.

Dessert is a treat, so don't worry too much about the calories in the ice cream. The other ingredients have health benefits either way, and ice cream is a serving of dairy.

Serves 1

Total time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 Sambazon Original Superfruit packs
  • 1/8 – 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1 banana
  • Chunks or chips dark chocolate (as desired)
  • 2 scoops coconut or vanilla ice cream (vegan or gluten-free if necessary)
  • Chunks or chips dark chocolate
  • Coconut shreds
  • Granola

Directions:

  1. Run the Superfruit packs under running water to thaw, then cut the packs in half, and squeeze the contents into a blender.
  2. Add the coconut milk and banana, and blend smooth.
  3. Add the chocolate, and pulse a few seconds longer. You don't want to purée the chocolate, just mix it.
  4. To a jar, add 1/2 your acai blend, and top with a scoop of ice cream, packing it down. Add another layer of acai blend and then another layer of ice cream.
  5. Top with additional chunks of chocolate, coconut shreds or granola as desired.

You could make this bowl as dessert for a family of four — or just skip the meal, and eat only dessert. With ingredients this healthy, there's no reason you shouldn't be bad.

Serves 1 (or 4 as dessert)

Total time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 Sambazon Unsweetened Superfruit packs
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/8 cup apple juice
  • 1/4 cup strawberries
  • 3/4 cup raspberries
  • Granola
  • Berries
  • Chunks or chips dark chocolate

Directions:

  1. Run the Superfruit packs under running water to thaw, then cut the packs in half, and squeeze the contents into a blender.

If you're going to use Brazilian berries, you may as well have a recipe straight from the heartland to go with it. Jazz up your breakfast "Girl from Ipanema"-style with this traditional fave.

Serves 1

Total time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 Sambazon Original Superfruit packs
  • 3/4 banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1/8 – 1/4 cup nondairy milk or coconut water
  • Granola
  • Sliced banana (the remainder of the banana from the blender)
  • Fresh fruit

Directions:

  1. Run the Superfruit packs under running water to thaw, then cut the packs in half, and squeeze the contents into a blender.
  2. Add the banana and mixed berries. Slowly add the liquid. You only need enough liquid to get the right consistency, so use your blender's plunger feature to add it as needed. Blend until combined.
  3. Pour into a bowl, and top it with granola, the remaining banana slices and fresh fruit.
