You know that sleeper hit you hear in May and think you're the only cool person who loves it, but then come the end of June, it's suddenly on everyone's playlist? Well, the Aperol spritz is that song. The cocktail is having a moment right now. I guess it was just its time?

No wonder they're popular right now, in the heat of summer, with their lower ABV. You won't get so smashed in the heat. And everyone looks chic with these glittering, jewel-tone cocktails in hand.

So what's in the Aperol spritz, besides the obvious? A bit of prosecco, a splash of plain soda water, ice and maybe an orange slice. From there, the variations are limited only by your imagination.

Aperol spritz recipe

Serves 1


  • 3 parts Cinzano prosecco
  • 2 parts Aperol
  • 1 dash soda
  • Ice
  • 1 slice orange


  1. Into an ice-filled balloon wineglass, pour the prosecco, Aperol and a dash of soda, and stir.
  2. Garnish with an orange slice.
