Cooking for kids is a game-changer. You can't expect them to appreciate your painstakingly-made hollandaise sauce, or the subtle spice you add to your bolognese. I should know... I was that kid. But as an adult, it would drive me crazy to cook a delicious dinner for my little angel, only to have it pushed away in disdain without a single spoonful touched. Angel, who?
Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I can completely see myself rage-throwing a paper plate of frozen nuggets into the microwave, defeated look on my face, probably (OK definitely) a glass of wine in my hand, silently cursing the not-yet-developed palate of my child.
Because apparently, those damn chicken nuggets reign supreme with kids, no matter how much effort you put into cooking their dinner.
