Deep-fried fruitcake might be this holiday season's newest treat

Fruitcake. It's that holiday tradition we all love to hate. But for something with such a bad rep, it sure has managed to stay relevant year after year. And today, in an effort to appeal to the junk food lover in all of us, it's taking a dunk in the deep fryer.

Deep frying makes everything better, right? Think about all the things that have been made even more delicious by a bath in hot oil: Twinkies, Snickers, Oreos, mac and cheese, even butter. (Thank Paula Deen for that last one.) But now, the deep fryer is really being put to the test... can it make fruitcake taste good?

I can't honestly say that I've ever tried fruitcake, but if I was going to, I think deep fried sounds like a fine idea. I mean, it's booze-soaked, deep-fried cake. Sounds like a no-brainer to me. So, the question is: Will it fry?
