Latkes are potato pancakes typically associated with cuisines of Europe and the Middle East and eaten by the Jewish community during Hanukkah as tradition.

Although they are normally just shredded potatoes, we've rounded up some other traditionally delicious latke recipes. Tradition states to eat them during Hanukkah, but they also make some delicious side dishes and breakfast items. You can stick with tradition and make them from potatoes, but other creative ways are by using butternut squash, sweet potatoes, purple potatoes, yucca, chayote and more.
