Most friends have probably mowed down on a burger or two together, but Redditor Mark Hayes and his friend made the experience one to remember by competing to see who could class up their Big Mac the best.
The fancy fast food that resulted is even more impressive when you consider the starting ingredients, laid out in all their muted, beige glory.
Mark Hayes made a five-layer burger alongside a potato tower, served with a sesame bun crouton salad and Mac sauce. Appearance is everything here (as anyone who's tasted a Big Mac knows), and from the precision cutting of the french fries to the artful dollops of Mac sauce that adorn the plate, one could (almost) be fooled as to the true origin of this drive-through dinner.
The challenger took things even further. If you've ever eaten a burger but wished it was shepherd's pie (or is that just me?), then this dish is for you. These mini-shepherd's pies, made from mashed fries and crumbled burger meat, are accented with a pile of sesame bun crisps and a lettuce-and-pickle salad. Oh-so-very gourmet, no?
The jury's still out on which of these fast-food feasts takes the cake; which dish do you think looks best?
