One of the things we would like to do is sit down in a cafe in Italy with a gelato in our hands. With minimal ingredients, you can create your own gelato that's based on a 200-year old classic Italian recipe!
This is a recipe based on the classic milk-free strawberry gelato from the 200-year old cookbook of Pellegrino Artusi. With slight modifications, we came up with this delicious gelato for you to try. Now you can sit down in your own backyard and eat your very own homemade gelato.
Milk-free strawberry gelato recipe
2 cups water
7 ounces white sugar
18 ounces strawberries
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/2 orange, juiced
On medium flame, in a saucepan, mix the water and sugar, then bring it to a boil. Lower the flame and simmer for 10 minutes, uncovered.
Put the strawberries in a blender and pulse until smooth.
When the syrup is cooked, mix it with the strawberries, the juice of the lemon and the juice of the orange.
Pour the mixture in the ice cream maker and follow ice cream maker instructions.
