Kuhn Rikon Spill Stopper

Made of heavy-duty food-safe silicone, the Kuhn Rikon Spill Stopper sits on top of pots to prevent foam and liquid from boiling up and over the rim. Perforations in the center of the gadget let hot air escape, and if you remove the centerpiece, the spill stopper becomes a great splatter guard.

The Spill Stopper, a German invention also known as Kochblume, or cooking flower, fits a variety of pots and pans from 5-1/2 to 9-inch diameter. It is availabe in two sizes: 10-inch ($25) and 12-inch ($30). It is also microwave- and dishwasher-safe.
