Certified sustainable wines

For a wine to be certified sustainable, the winery must follow strict standards that are designed to lead to measureable improvements in the environmental health of the ecosystem, society and wine quality

Suggested wine: LangeTwins 2011 Chardonnay (SRP $15)

Transition to organic wines

These wines are made by wineries that farm organically and work towards an official California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) certification.

Suggested wine: Clif Family Winery 2010 Climber Limited Release (SRP $28)

Gravity flow wines

Wines made by gravity flow methods are moved throughout the winemaking process from the crush pad, to the tanks, and finally the barrels, using gravity. This allows wineries to reduce their carbon footprint and improve the wine quality.

Suggested wine: Fritz Estate 2010 Estate Zinfandel (SRP $25)
