Spicy Chai Tea

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 15 whole cloves

  • 15 cardamom pods

  • 15 black peppercorns

  • 1 tablespoons fennel seeds

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 4 slices fresh ginger (1/4-inch thick)

  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest

  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • Pure maple syrup, stevia, or honey (optional)

  • Lemon wedges (optional)


Directions:

  1. Combine 3 cups water with all spices and fresh ginger in pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.

  2. Add orange zest and vanilla extract. Simmer 5 minutes longer. Strain tea and add sweetener to taste. Garnish with lemon, if desired
