Calling all vegan bakers

MadeJustRight.com, an Earth Balance-hosted online community devoted to people who are passionate about cooking with natural ingredients is launching the Holiday Bake-Off Recipe Contest in conjunction with EQAL, the media company that builds influencer networks around celebrities and brands. The competition runs from November 28 to December 23 and asks all bakers nationwide to enter their best plant-based recipes made with at least one Earth Balance product for the chance to win the grand prize; a $1,000 Whole Foods Market gift card.

“The holiday season is about family traditions and recipes,” said TJ McIntyre, vice president general manager of Earth Balance. “Plant-based desserts are just as delicious, if not more, than desserts made with traditional ingredients, and we’re excited to see what our community shares with us during our second annual Holiday Bake-Off.”

A month of vegan baking opportunities

Throughout the four-week contest, a team of culinary experts including Jenny and Heather Goldberg from Spork Foods will evaluate the recipes based on appeal, ease of preparation and creativity to select two winners every week, for a total of eight. They will each receive a year’s supply of Earth Balance® products, a $400 Whole Foods Market gift card, and the opportunity to win the Grand Prize $1000 Whole Foods Market gift card.

Earth Balance recipe contest schedule

To qualify, recipes must be plant-based, contain an Earth Balance product, including spreads, sticks, nut butters and soymilk, and feature one or more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans nuts or seeds. Each week, bakers will compete to have the top recipes in a different category.

Following is the recipe category schedule:

  • November 28 - December 4: Pies

  • December 5 - 11: Cakes

  • December 12 - 18: Cupcakes

  • December 19 - 23: Cookies

All winners will be announced the week of January 9, 2012.
