Netflix was good to us this summer

Netflix has been bringing us some seriously great content this summer, and its original series really shine. Over the course of the summer of 2017, we've had a vast array of TV shows and films ready for Netflix streaming, and all those choices can be overwhelming when you're trying to choose just one show to watch. Luckily, I've decided to rank all of Netflix's summer releases for you.

If you're in the mood to travel back in time to the '80s, the era of spandex, there's definitely a show for you. Maybe you're feeling a bit more playful and want to see a riff on the classic film Groundhog Day. Or were you in the mood to see a seriously good drama? Guys, it's all here, and it's all ranked for your perusing pleasure. Check it out now, but, fair warning: You're going to be surprised by what makes it to the No. 1 spot.

The update on Anne of Green Gables was great for fans but blah for the rest of us.

#4/16:

13. 'Friends From College'

David Lee/Netflix
#4/16:

13. 'Friends From College'

With little to like about the plot or characters in Friends From College, it tough to have much fondness for these friends or their issues.

#5/16:

12. 'Orange Is the New Black'

Jojo Whilden/Netflix
#5/16:

What if Groundhog Day starred Marlon Wayans? You can find out when you watch the very average Naked.

#7/16:

10. 'Atypical'

Netflix
#7/16:

10. 'Atypical'

Despite it's interesting focus on an autistic teen boy navigating love and friendship, Atypical is a problematic family drama.

#8/16:

9. 'To the Bone'

Gilles Mingasson/Netflix
#8/16:

9. 'To the Bone'

Anorexia and the struggle to stay in recovery are the focus of this tough, raw and sometimes histrionic film.

#10/16:

7. 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'

Eric Liebowitz/Netflix
#10/16:

7. 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'

Kimmy was predictably lovable and found herself in some oddball yet rote hijinks. Not too shabby for Season 3.

#11/16:

6. 'Glow'

Erica Parise/Netflix
#11/16:

6. 'Glow'

The '80s are alive and well in Glow, where women buck stereotypes to be their true selves — in the wrestling ring.

#12/16:

5. 'Gypsy'

#12/16:

5. 'Gypsy'

Naomi Watts' foray into TV was with this excellent psycho-drama focused on a therapist who crossed major boundaries with her clients.

4. 'The Defenders'

The Defenders united to save New York and gave us all the best bits of their individual franchises while working as a powerhouse team.

#14/16:

3. 'Sense8'

Murray Close/Netflix
#14/16:

3. 'Sense8'

Despite being canceled, Sense8's second season delivered on action, sci-fi thrills and meaningful, human stories.
