Pretty Little Liars: 9 Reasons Wren could never be A

Wren can't be Charles

Wren's name has been tossed around for a while now as a possibility for Charles' true identity. And, after a Reddit user claiming to be a former Pretty Little Liars show employee came out last week to apparently "confirm" the rumors, the theories have gotten out of control. But it's near-impossible for the once-upon-a-time character on the show to actually be Charles for multiple reasons.

Male stand-ins

Male stand-ins

Yes, Charles appeared to be a man when we saw him in the dollhouse, but don't be fooled. He was, after all, in disguise. If it is true that Charles is dead (as Mr. DiLaurentis would have us believe), someone could be assuming his identity as Über A to carry on that legacy. And that someone could be female despite the physical attributes that seem to suggest otherwise. Case in point: The show also used male stand-ins to portray Mona as A.

Hospital work

Hospital work

There have been theories that Wren isn't a real doctor and that, in his craziness, he was only playing at graduating from Oxford, having a British accent and being an accredited doctor. But that just makes no sense. We've seen Wren work at multiple hospitals and we've seen his talents in action. Plus, why not just say you got your degree in the States and save yourself the trouble of faking a British accent if you really are Charles?

The big Ali problem

The big Ali problem

Alison and Wren have never actually met on the show. By the time she returned from being missing and presumed dead in Season 5, he was already off the show. Of course, PLL could try to say that they met at some point they never got around to showing us (despite how significant that moment would seem to be), but I highly doubt it.

Why all the Liars?

Why all the Liars?

If Wren were Charles, the show might be able to pull off explaining why he wanted to go after Spencer and Alison, but why all the other Liars? And why the creepy obsession with Alison, especially considering the two haven't even met since they were little children? It just doesn't add up.

If Wren were actually Charles, the family relations on the show would be super messed up, as if the Hasting/DiLaurentis family isn't already. That would mean that Wren has hooked up with both of his brother's half-sisters, not to mention Wren's paternity would need to be verified since his parents weren't being faithful during the time he was conceived. Um, yuck!

Julian Morris' career

Julian Morris' career

Julian Morris is busy working on other projects, including Amazon's Hand of God. He doesn't have a contract with ABC Family and he's not bound to Pretty Little Liars. At all. Which means they wouldn't have made him Charles, assuming he could just opt out and take another job at any point. No contract means he's not our Über A.

I. Marlene King comments

Not only has show creator I. Marlene King reportedly made comments that she misses Julian Morris, but he hasn't been sighted on set since leaving to pursue other endeavors. I would be shocked if the show was able to pull off a cover-up like that, especially with how big it is on social media. It would be the best-kept secret in Hollywood.

So where is he?

So where is he?

If Wren is really Über A/Charles DiLaurentis and the show has been setting up this big reveal now for the past few seasons, then why haven't we seen his character in 44 episodes? The last time we actually saw Wren's face was all the way back in Season 4. The show has clearly moved on from his character, and we should too.
