Music Fit For A Red Wedding
Hot on the heels of last week's shocking episode, the soundtrack for Season 3 of Game of Thrones is available to stream online before you can buy it.
Did you see Game of Thrones last week? I can’t believe [spoiler redacted] went to [spoiler redacted] and got [spoiler redacted] by [spoiler redacted]. I was in shock for days — and so was half the internet.
Yes, friends, if there's one thing we learned from last week, the night is dark and indeed full of terrors.
Well, while I recover, dry my tears and wait for this week’s season finale, I've been listening to the Game of Thrones Season 3 soundtrack.
While not officially released until July 9, the online music site Rdio is streaming the soundtrack a month before you can buy it.
Written by Grammy-nominated composer Ramin Djawadi, the soundtrack has all the music you need to throw a red wedding.
Along with three versions of the main title theme — because if there’s anything better than one version, it’s three — the soundtrack’s titles will take you back to all of your favorite moments from Season 3.
Song titles include “You Know Nothing,” “Kingslayer,” “The Night is Dark,” and of course “The Lannisters Send Their Regards.”
Along with the instrumentals, actress Kerry Ingram, who plays Shireen Baratheon, the disfigured hidden away daughter of Stannis Baratheon, sings “It’s Always Summer Under the Sea.”
Plus, indie rockers The Hold Steady appear for a rousing rendition of my new favorite Irish drinking song, “The Bear and the Maiden Fair.”
Take a listen to the soundtrack sampler below, but do it quick. Winter is coming and you never know who will get the ax next — literally.
