She Sings, She Dances, She's Good!
Jessica Simpson hit social media to share an old video for "Throwback Thursday." She gave followers a glimpse of the vocal talent that made her famous.
"Throwback Thursday" has become a popular item each week, thanks to Twitter and Instagram, where social media users post a photo or video from their past. Jessica Simpson jumped on board this week with a video highlighting her role as Cassie in A Chorus Line.
On Thursday, the fashion mogul tweeted, "The ultimate #tbt," with a link to the YouTube video. Followers were able to catch a glimpse of a teenaged Simpson strutting her stuff onstage.
The five-minute video from a high school production featured the iconic song "The Music and the Mirror" from the Tony Award–winning musical. Dressed in a red leotard with black tights and belt as the character Cassie, Simpson belted out the song with aplomb.
The Fashion Star panelist also handled herself quite well in the dance break as she pirouetted, leaped and strutted her stuff in front of the audience. Her raw talent was evident even then.
The production took place at J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas. Simpson attended the public school until she was scouted by Tommy Mottola, an executive producer at Columbia Records. She left her formal education behind to pursue her career, but she did go on to earn her GED.
With talent like that, let's hope Broadway producers give Simpson a call once she's ready to get back to work post-baby!
