A Look At Spock And Uhura's Relationship

Spock: In love?

Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana for Star TrekStar Trek has many underlying themes: Brotherhood, teamwork, space exploration, peace and especially tolerance. After all, Star Trek broke serious boundaries when Captain Kirk became the first white man to kiss a black woman on television.

In the new film Star Trek Into Darkness, a new plotline developed, though. Take a look at this exclusive clip. See if you can spot the split-second when things turned interesting for Spock and Star Trek became a franchise all girls could get into (and not just because of those incredibly attractive space explorers).

There's so much to love about that clip. There's the typical way Spock (Zachary Quinto) misunderstands Uhura's joke. Then, we adore the way Uhura (Zoe Saldana) fusses with his suit like a wife straightening her husband's tie. And the kiss on his visor? We're imagining she leaves a lipstick print.

If you weren't one of the devoted fans that shelled out a whopping $70.1 million at the box office during opening weekend, you're truly missing out.

It may look like (relatively) smooth sailing between the two from that scene, but we promise: It's not. Can you imagine loving someone as "unfeeling" and logical as Spock? It'll take a special kind of woman and a devoted wingman, like Kirk (Chris Pine) to keep their relationship flying smoothly. Especially once Spock, Kirk, Uhura, Scotty and the gang meet up with the evil and cunning Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch).

Grab a girlfriend and go see Star Trek Into Darkness this weekend. Do it for the romance. Do it for the hot guys. Boldly go where none of your girly-girl BFFs have gone before.

I think it's a little insulting to assume that the only reason a girl would watch star trek is because of the romance.

This should say "Spoiler Alert" at the top!
