Matt Damon is applauding Angelina Jolie's decision to have a pre-emptive double-mastectomy, but his wife may take issue with the way he did it.
The married father of four made the remarks to Extra's AJ Calloway at the Cannes Film Festival where he is promoting HBO's Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra.
When asked about Jolie's drastic health decision, Damon responded, “She’s awesome. There are a lot of women who are struggling with medical decisions, and when they hear that the undeniably most sexy woman on planet Earth, as far as we know, is willing to take control of her health and be public about it, I think it gives other people courage to do that, too.”
The sentiment is lovely, but perhaps his wife of 6½ years Luciana may take issue with not being the sexiest woman in the world in her own husband's eyes. But of course, Damon meant it in nothing but the best way we're sure!
Angelina Jolie announced her decision to undergo a double mastectomy to cut her risk of breast cancer earlier this month, telling The New York Times, "I do not feel any less of a woman. I feel empowered that I made a strong choice that in no way diminishes my femininity."
"I can tell my children that they don't need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer," she said.
Jolie might not be done with surgeries, though. People reports the actress and humanitarian is mulling over the option of having her ovaries removed, as she still has a 50 percent change of developing the cancer that killed her own mother.
