This Sunday, your TV will be taken over by moms. Not just because it's the one day of the year when fathers relinquish the remote but because every channel on the guide is doing something special for Mother's Day. (ABC Family is probably showing Harry Potter, again, though.) Our top choice for the afternoon: Spending time actually bonding with the woman who raised you into the beautiful, capable woman you are, obviously.
However, we recommend keeping the TV turned to the Gospel Music Channel (or GMC) to use as entertainment for whichever one of you doesn't immediately fall asleep on the couch after Mamaw makes fried chicken.
Why? The real mom behind the Blindside story, Leigh Anne Tuohy, will be hosting an all-day marathon of grandma/mom/you/kiddo-approved shows. The schedule is as follows:
Mother's Day on Walton's Mountain 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. EST
Touched By An Angel 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. EST
7th Heaven 5 p.m. – Midnight EST
For you night owls or West Coasters, another hour of Touched By an Angel will follow, then an encore presentation of Walton's Mountain.
Who doesn't remember spending time next to their grandma while following along on the adventures of John Boy Walton and his millions of siblings? Spending time with the Camdens is just an added bonus. During the shows, though, don't forget to tell your moms and grandmas how they were even better than the best of TV moms.
Stay tuned between the shows and during commercial breaks for plenty of good times with Tuohy, too. She'll be onboard for the entire day as a prelude to and offering promos for her new series, Family Addition with Leigh Anne Tuohy. We're giddy about this new show. During each episode, Tuohy will visit another family who is preparing emotionally, physically and practically for the addition of a new family member. Based on Tuohy's family story, you can bet we'll probably see more adoptions than births, but that only makes it more heartwarming (and no doubt a complete tear-fest!). To help the family welcome their new member, Tuohy's team will even makeover the home to help accommodate the new place at the table.
So, put the flowers in a vase already, save the dishes for later and sit back for some motherly entertainment with GMC's Mom-athon. Then, tune in on Friday, June 9 at 9/8c for the premiere of Family Addition. (And remember that on June 1, GMC becomes UP, so it'll look a little different on your guide, but it's still the same soul-warming channel.)
