Nicki Minaj is lending a hand to The Other Woman. The rapper-actress has signed on to star in the Nick Cassavetes–directed comedy. She joins Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and supermodel Kate Upton.
Nicki Minaj's Hollywood takeover is moving to the next level. The rapper and American Idol judge is returning to the big screen. Last year, she voiced one of the characters in Ice Age: Continental Drift, and now she's found a role that features her live and in living color.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Minaj is set to make her live-action film debut in The Other Woman. She won't be playing the title character — that honor goes to Cameron Diaz. The film centers on a woman who finds out that she is "the other woman" in an affair. She teams up with the wife (Leslie Mann) to get revenge on the cheating cad of a husband, being played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (from Game of Thrones). Minaj stars as the "opinionated assistant" to Diaz's character at a law firm.
Prior to her career as a hip-hop artist, Minaj studied acting at LaGuardia High School in Manhattan. She's always considered herself an all-around performer and had dreams of becoming an actress.
The cast of The Other Woman also includes model Kate Upton, who stars as one of Coster-Waldau's many mistresses. The film's slated to begin production in late spring/early summer in New York City.
Until then, Minaj continues to stir the pot on the current season of American Idol. The reality competition airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on Fox.
