Johansson Goes From Victim To Survivor
Scarlett Johansson is teaming up with Luc Besson for his latest film. It's called Lucy and centers on a young woman with superhuman abilities.
Scarlett Johansson's back in fight mode. She's currently filming the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, reprising her role from The Avengers as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow. Then after production wraps, she has no plans to slow down.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johansson's in talks to star in Luc Besson's next project. The film's called Lucy and falls in line with his previous girl-power movies. Besson's known for writing and directing stories with strong female characters. His resume includes La Femme Nikita, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc and Colombiana.
In Lucy, Johansson would play a "woman forced to become a drug mule. But the drug instead goes into her system, transforming her into an ass-kicking machine. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can't feel pain and other discomforts."
Lucy seems right up Johansson's alley. As of late, her career has taken an action-heavy turn. Her appearance Iron Man 2 really started something. Once everything's signed and sealed, the actress will begin shooting Lucy following her stint in The Winter Soldier. After that, she's expected to return to the Marvel universe for The Avengers 2.
Captain America: The Winter Solider opens in theaters April 4, 2014. The Avengers 2 is set for May 1, 2015. We're sure Johansson can fit Lucy in somewhere between those two.
What do you think of Johansson's new role? Can you see her as Lucy?
