What's Wealthy Film Producer Up To?
Multiple sources report that troubled star Lindsay Lohan, mere days away from heading to rehab, came to a Broadway play 45 minutes late last night, in the company of a man with money to spend.
Lainey Gossip calls Mohammed Al Turki "Lindsay Lohan's new bankroller," and has a hilarious story about him (we'll get to that in a minute). Only Lohan and her people know whether Al Turki is writing Lohan checks, but he's appeared on her arm at a couple of high-profile events.
First, the two appeared together at the Amfar gala in February, Perez Hilton reports.
And last night, Lohan and Al Turki showed up a leisurely 45 minutes late to a staging of Orphans — yep, that would be the play the Shia LaBeouf quit in a blaze of publicity after he and Alec Baldwin feuded.
Lohan wore a sheer, white dress under which her black lace bra was clearly visible; out on the street she covered the ensemble up with a black leather jacket studded with spikes.
As for Al Turki, Lainey Gossip met him last year at Cannes: "I was brought to him in Cannes. We were invited to a yacht party on press credentials and part of that agreement involved paying our respects to the person who was funding the event. My colleague and I were led into a private enclosed area of the boat where he was surrounded by hot skinny girls, and Michelle Rodriguez who’d been hired to DJ. We listened to him talk at us about his film interests and how he was producing a movie with Zac Efron. Needless to say, he was making a play for Hollywood. Not really sure how Lindsay Lohan is helping with that, but OK."
"Lohan, as you know, is in a lot of debt. And now she’s spending a lot of time with a rich dude who finances movies…?" continued Lainey. "That sounds about right."
It's unclear what Lohan, who reportedly accepted a six-figure payout to party with the son of the Sultan of Brunei over the holidays, is actually doing hanging around with Al Turki. Are they pals? Co-workers? Something else?
Al Turki's IMDB profile shows a bunch of producer credits from 2012 and 2013; he was the executive producer of the Richard Gere hit Arbitrage, and is co-exec producer for the upcoming buzzed-about teen-vampire-school movie Innocence.
Lohan's not in the cast for Innocence. Too bad. She'd make a decent vampire, don't you think?
