Iron Man 3 actress Gwyneth Paltrow has been named the World's Most Beautiful Woman by People magazine — but the 40-year-old insists the face we see smiling out at us from magazine covers is not her daily reality.
"Around the house, I'm in jeans and a T-shirt," the Academy Award winner told People. "I don't really wear makeup. That's what they're used to."
"And Chris will make a joke about it. If I've gotten fully dressed up, he'll be like, 'Oh, wow! You're Gwyneth Paltrow!' Because he's used to seeing me in like baggy shorts and frizzy hair."
Of course, Gwyneth on her worst day still looks better than many on their best, and her unbelievably tight body has much to do with that. While she eschews Botox, her dedication to the Tracy Anderson Method — a workout she previously admitted to doing five days a week for two hours a day — gets the credit.
"It makes me look younger and feel strong," the actress said. "When I first started, I thought, 'I'll never be good at this. This is a nightmare!' But now it's like brushing my teeth, I just do it."
Gwyneth and her husband raise their kids near London, far from the Hollywood spotlight, and for Gwyneth, that's just one part of making sure Apple, 8, and Moses, 7, grow up with healthy body images, especially now that Apple is starting to experiment with the trappings of femininity like makeup and the controversial bikinis for sale on her website.
"When we're home sometimes, she'll put on mascara," Gwyneth explained. "And sometimes I'll let her wear something out to dinner — but just a little dab."
"Having a father who adores you the way that [Chris] adores her is very good for your body image. The more we can love her and let her be who she is, the more confident she'll feel."
