Shakira's Body After Baby

Shakira gets real and tells it like it is when it comes to dropping the baby weight: It ain't easy.

Many women take a full year to drop the extra weight after having a baby, if they ever drop it at all. Performers like Shakira don't have that luxury. The singer and coach on The Voice said that getting her body back into pre-baby shape was incredibly stressful — and she had minimal time to do it.

The star talked about losing the weight after her son's January birth while promoting The Voice at NBCUniversal's press day, and said that the most stressful part of motherhood so far has been getting her body back in time to get back on TV.

"[Losing baby weight] is the only thing that's been stressful," Shakira explained. "I knew I had to come back here to do The Voice two months after I had delivered a baby. I didn't have my four months of maternity like every woman on earth has. I'm not trying to complain, but it's been a process full of challenges."

"I think that our mothers and grandmothers weren't under the pressure women of today are after delivering a baby," she continued. "My dad says there's nothing better than meat over the bones. So he likes my mom a little chubby. She was never under the pressure to have to get to her old weight — and she never did."

She looks pretty darn good to us so whatever she's been doing is definitely working.

"I do Zumba. Zumba has been actually really great for me," she explained. "Even during pregnancy, I kept doing it until almost the end."

"I'm still a few pounds over," she explained. "Now with The Voice, I don't have time to exercise. And when I have a day off, I just want to be with Milan," she said of her now 3-month-old son.

Watch Shakira on The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC at 8/7c.
