The 2 Child Stars Are All Grown Up
The former child star is now all grown up and was motivated by another former child star to lose her baby weight.
Tia Mowry has come a long way since Sister, Sister started in 1994. The famous twin sister had her baby 18 months ago and has been working hard to lose the weight ever since. She said she got a lot of her motivation from fellow actress Hilary Duff.
Mowry spoke with Us Weekly on Feb. 21 at Essence's Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon. Her son Cree, with husband Cory Hardrict, is now a year-and-a-half-old, and she feels she has come a long way in that time.
"I remember when I had my baby," she told the magazine. “I was looking at everybody like 'Damn, how are they on the beach after two months in a bikini? What the hell are they doing?'"
The comparison made her think she was the abnormal one, but her doctor assured her she was very normal.
"I went to my OB because I thought something was wrong with me, because that's all I would see!" she said. "And she said, 'No, honey, that's fine.'"
Her sister Tamera Mowry also added that being in Hollywood, it's easy to compare yourself to the actresses who lose all the weight right away.
But Tia said her post-baby-weight idol is none other than fellow (former) child actor Hilary Duff.
"Hilary Duff is someone that I looked up to," she said.
Duff had her son Luca just 11 months ago and she has been very vocal about her struggle, and success, at losing weight.
"I think if you ask any pregnant mom, they're like 'I want my body back,' but it takes time," Duff told Us Weekly back in June. "It takes nine months for your body to get that way and it's putting on that weight on purpose."
Tamera Mowry also gave birth just two months ago, and said she is now working to lose the baby weight as well.
"At first you're shocked. You're like, 'My body's completely different.' Your boobs are in your face, you have stretch marks, you have curves that you never had before," she said. "My husband said, 'Happy girls are pretty girls,' and he keeps telling me that. Enjoy the phase that you're in. I'm enjoying it!"
