It's been a great week for Jennifer Lawrence. Sunday she won a Best Actress Oscar for her performance in last year's Silver Linings Playbook. It made her one-for-two when it comes to nominations versus wins. Her first nod was in 2011 for her role in the indie film Winter's Bone.
On the heels of her victory, Lionsgate has released a new poster for the sequel, Catching Fire. It features Lawrence and co-star Josh Hutcherson reprising their roles as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.
Now that Harry Potter and Twilight have bid farewell, The Hunger Games dominates the young adult crowd. The first film grossed $686 million worldwide. Over $400 million was pulled from the US alone. The movie was produced for $78 million, so the studio made a huge return on their investment.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will follow Katniss and Peeta as their victory tour is interrupted by political unrest. A rebellion is brewing as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares for the 75th Annual Hunger Games aka The Quarter Quell. The competition will bring past champions out of the woodwork, including the famous Finnick (Sam Claflin).
The sequel is directed by Francis Lawrence and co-stars Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and Jenna Malone.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens in theaters Nov. 22.
