2013 Oscar Nominations
Steven Spielberg's political biopic Lincoln leads the 2013 Oscars race, garnering 12 nominations this morning, and is followed closely by a dark horse no one saw coming.
He is one of the most beloved presidents in history, and now he is the most Oscar-nominated. The presidential biopic Lincoln nabbed 12 Academy Award nominations today, including best picture, best director, best adapted screenplay and acting noms for stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, and Tommy Lee Jones. Coming in a close second with a whopping — and surprising — 11 nominations is fantasy adventure Life of Pi, which garnered nods for including best picture, best director for Ang Lee, best adapted screenplay, and several technical nominations. Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Naomi Watts, Bradley Cooper, Hugh Jackman, and Joaquin Phoenix also have potential to take home a statue.
