Kanye West planned quite the outfit for his set during the 12-12-12 benefit for Hurricane Sandy relief concert on Wednesday night: Hooded sweatshirt, plenty of bling… and a skirt?
Yup, Mr. Kim Kardashian wore a leather skirt/pants combo for the duration of the performance. Was it Kim K-approved? Yes, but unlike Kanye, she didn't make him wear it.
"Awwwwwwww I'm so excited right now!!!!! He looks so cute!!" she tweeted.
How do we know she didn't give her input? It's not the first time he's worn it. The "Mercy" rapper first debuted the slant look — lifted from Givenchy's fall 2012 menswear collection — in the "N****s in Paris" video.
Our thoughts? It's not that strange — he's made a point of wearing women's clothing before. Also, we know he's super-into fashion for fashion's sake — 'cause he tells us all the time.
"Fashion completely parallels with music. Fashion people look down on musicians," he told GQ.com in 2010. "They look down on celebrities. I don't care about whether I sit on the front row — I want to see art in its purest form before a Barney's buyer separated it out."
He added to the musings with a long Twitter rant earlier this year.
"I did the first fashion show out of my own pocket and used the money I made touring to follow my passion. I’ve been working at this for 8 years now," he tweeted.
His inspiration? His late mother, Donda West.
"I remember being 5 years old picking and my mother taking me with her shopping at the discount fur spots. She said I would always point to the most expensive furs, even as a child," he added. "There is something about making clothing that always brings me back to that point."
