Michelle Duggar gets a new look! The 46-year-old reality star and mother of 19 debuted a sleek, straight style (see it here) on last week's episode of 19 Kids and Counting, thanks to a birthday gift from her children.

Her thoughts? She likes it!

"I enjoyed the fact that my whole family and my girls came up with this amazing way of showing how much they loved me with a 24-hour birthday surprise," she told People of the present, adding that she hadn't changed her look in 40 (!) years.

"Going from curly to totally straight was a shock for me," Michelle added, "but I am loving it and I have been doing both styles, curly and straight, since the cut."

It doesn't really matter if she likes it, though — she'll only keep it if husband Jim Bob Duggar wants it to stay.

"I know Jim Bob likes it long and I am trying to impress him — what he likes is what I want," she said of her husband. It's no secret that he prefers long, long hair on all the women in his life, but he's coming around. "I think he was a little shocked at first, it was so straight and so different. But he does like it. I think I shocked everyone at the [birthday] party. They were very surprised."

We say keep it if you like it, Michelle!

As for how the kids feel about the style? They're loving it, even if the youngest Duggar doesn't quite know what to think.

"Little Josie kept touching my hand and saying, ‘Mommy? Mommy? Mommy?’" she recalled. "She wanted to make sure I was still me."
