Clay Walker has every reason to have a huge ego — he's had 20-plus years in the spotlight, after all. However, he told SheKnows on the 2012 CMA Awards red carpet that it's all about his wife.
"Just look at her," he said as he admired wife Jessica Craig from afar. "Two kids."
Walker is back in a big way with his new single, "Jesse James," the fourth from his 2010 album She Won't Be Lonely Long. The song is a tongue-in-cheek ode to the legendary outlaw. The song is getting a lot of critical acclaim, something Walker's proud of with this album.
"We've had some big hits, and I've enjoyed all of them, but as far as complete albums go, my first album is the only one where I've ever looked back and said, 'From start to finish, that's a completely, absolutely, no-regret album.' Now, I'm saying the same thing with this one. And that's the first time I've done that in a long time," he told TheBoot.com in 2010.
The sound of both the song and the album is a throwback to the golden age of country. Walker said it's time to bring back the real country sound to country music.
"There's been a void there, and people really like to hear that type of sound right now," he told The Boot. "As an artist, I find more about what songs I really sing good, and really, what I've learned is if I don't really like a song that much, people aren't going to like it either. Because being a fan myself is all part of why it makes it so fun to record music. Because I do love it."
We're just glad to hear such a talent back on the radio again.
