Following the events of The Avengers, Tony Stark is fried. The trailer reveals a man who's emotionally torn about his double life. This isn't a world of secret identities. Stark is Iron Man and everyone knows it. That knowledge brings serious danger into his life.

According to the official synopsis:

"When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him."

The film begs the question: Does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? It's a touchy subject that was also addressed in The Avengers. When Stark and Steve Rogers (Captain America) exchanged heated words Rogers asked, "Big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?"

Judging from this trailer, we'll soon find out!

Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black and co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley. The film opens in theaters nationwide May 3, 2013.
