The second episode of The CW's Beauty and the Beast airs tonight, and it looks like a rowdy one.
The pilot did more hinting at Vincent's (Jay Ryan) bad side than actually showing it. Even when he took out those two hit men who were after Cat (Kristin Kreuk) in the subway, you heard more than you saw. The new promo promises something much different this time around, though.
Cat knows Vincent is somehow related to her mother's death. He didn't cause it, but he helped save Cat's life. Then, when she showed up at the place he's staying, she found an old newspaper clipping about the attack. He definitely knows more than he's letting on. So Cat's staying close to see what she can find out from him.
However, the last thing Vincent needs is a detective hanging around his place. He's part beast because of the government's genetic engineering program. When their experiments went awry, it appears most of the other hybrids were likely killed. Vincent escaped, though. Between Cat's cop buddies and whoever it is that wants her dead, it only smells like trouble for Vincent to keep her around.
Cat's concern over her mother's murder is completely understandable. However, why she also needs Vincent's help with her current case is unknown at this time. At the moment, the preview almost hints at Cat becoming constantly dependent on Vincent's help. Cat's a former bartender who went to law school and became a detective. She has the makings of a strong, independent female character. Hopefully, those attributes won't be ruined in an effort to create a great love story.
